Lemon Chicken – Kung Fu Cooking

Jimmy has started a video series called Kung Fu Cooking. On a regular basis, Jimmy will introduce a new dish from his restaurant, Wok Cafe. Wok Cafe is a restaurant that specializes in Asian Fusion cuisine!

In this video, Jimmy cooks up a quick Asian dish, Fried Lemon Chicken (soo guy)!
He shows you how you can quickly make Chinese Fried Lemon Chicken!

This takes place at Jimmy’s restaurant, Wok Cafe; the same restaurant Epic Meal Time used to cook up their Epic Eggroll!

MCCCC New Year Charity Ball

Jimmy organized a charity event to raise funds for the Chinese Community:
New Year Charity Ball of the Montreal Chinese Community and Cultural Center.

The event included an 8-course meal and a show performed by various singers from around the country.

Many government officials and representatives attended the event in support of the fundraising. It was a very successful event!

MCCCC – Christmas for the Elderly

Jimmy took part in the annual Charity Christmas Lunch event for the elderly of the Chinese community. The event took place at the Montreal Chinese Community & Cultural Center. Many restaurants donated food, including Wok Cafe. Places all over the community donated gifts, flowers and snacks for the event.

Jimmy was an MC at the event. He also helped distribute food amongst the elderly and was a leader, coordinating the tasks for the volunteers and making sure all the food was delivered on time.

The event included not only food, but may shows and performances (dancing, singing, etc) from the Chinese community. The event finished off with a raffle draw, where many people won fantastic gifts.

Justin Trudeau also attended the event, to support the cause and the Chinese community.

In this photo, Jimmy is coordinating the volunteers to pick up the food from various restaurants.

Here, the volunteers prepare lunch meals for the elderly, with the food donated by various restaurants.

Here, Jimmy distributes the meals along with the volunteers, to make sure everyone in the audience receives their meals.

Phoenix Warriors – Fundraising Comedy Night

Jimmy and his dragon boat team, Phoenix Warriors, held a fundraising event at ComedyNest, to raise funds for their training and competition entry fees for the upcoming season.

They had a very successful fundraiser at the Comedy Nest. A big thanks to all their supporters!

There will be a special presentation to one of our greatest team supporter after the show tonight, his name is Jacques Monette ,

He works with me in the same company, during our MIDRRF Montreal Dragon Boat Festival this year, he and his family came and cheered on us, he is one of our fan for years, he always wanted to experience to participate in dragon boating, but he has a health problem, I have been helping him in fitness training the past years.

This year, after he came to cheer on our team at the Montreal festival big race, on the same week during his vacation, he had a stroke, his heart stopped while he was sleeping, actually his heart stopped more than two times, but it wasn’t his time yet.

And now he has a pacer next to his heart to keep him in good health, he said, GOD sent him back, he sent him back to be with our team Phoenix Warriors, he came to me, and he has made a commitment to himself to train hard to run the marathon next summer, to prove that he is OK !

I was really touched when he told me, and asked me to be his trainer as to be his supporter, to give him more motivation. Tonight, it will be a special moment for him, for everyone in our team to come together like a big family to witness his new journey, and for that, I will be presenting him my own GOLD medal that we won at the men competition this year to him for his courage and spirit as a fighter, that he is running for his life.

Principal Role in The Wings of the Dragon

After auditioning, Jimmy got a principal role in a film called The Wings of the Dragon.
Unfortunately, the Production ran into financial difficulty on October 14th, and subsequently had to stop Production altogether by the middle of the week.

Michael Jackson – The Immortal World Tour

In early March 2011 this year, Cirque Du Soleil had invited Jimmy and signed a contract with him with Cirque Du Soleil as an “ Artistic Coach – New Creation Artistic Director ” for Cirque Du Soleil “ MICHAEL JACKSON – THE IMMORTAL WORLD TOUR ( 2011 ) ”, premiering on October 1st in Montreal at the Pepsi Forum. After that, it will go around the world as the biggest show ever created by Cirque du Soleil. This was Jimmy’s greatest dream to be able to work with so many talented performers, that he was invited to be one of the “ Artistic coach – New Creation Artistic Director ”.

Jimmy Chan: Tonight I was invited to the premiere of Cirque de Soleil’s Michael Jackson Immortal Tour. It was an amazing and successful event. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the great choreographers with fascinating acrobatic performances, dancing, and the spectacular advanced visual effects. Together, it gave out a memorable showcase that will make Michael Jackson live in our hearts forever.

It was and honor and privilege to work with the great artists on this special project as an artistic director.

Everybody should go see the show.

Jimmy was responsible for choreographing one of the dance routines performed by the Japanese artists.

Twisted Fate

Arashi Diako – Benefit concert for Japan

Jimmy and his Chan Lion Dance Club were invited by Arashi Daiko to perform lion dance at their Benefit Concert for Japan; they were proud to have collaborated with the Montreal Japanese Cultural Center and Arashi Daiko.

The event took place at La TOHU on April 9, 2011, and it raised around $25000!

Big thanks to TOHU for their support and sponsorship, and a big thanks to all the guests who helped make this event a success.

Concordia Students – Beijing Opera Fundraiser

Two years ago, Jimmy discovered the great talent of Michelle Jiang (The Beijing Opera performer and teacher from Beijing), Nicholas (Michelle’s assistance Beijing Opera teacher in Concordia), and the Concordia students who were learning the Beijing Opera at that time. He witnessed their passion for the art.

In 2008, the very first fundraising Beijing Opera performance fundraising event was held at the Montreal Chinese Community and Cultural Center to raise funds for those students, so they can go to China to further their studies in Beijing Opera. It was a great success.

Since that time, Jimmy realized that the Concordia students were facing a very expensive trip to China for the Cultural exchange Beijing Opera program; Based on the tickets sales alone, there were not enough funds. It then became Jimmy’s mission as a Cultural center Youth Program director, to make their dreams become reality!

Jimmy knocked on many doors for the past weeks, meeting people explain the important value for their sponsorship.

Jimmy also helped organize a fundraising event, where the Beijing Opera students would perform their art for the public. Jimmy and the students raised enough funds to send them to China to extend their Beijing Opera training!

Christmas for the Elderly
